Job Title: Advanced Critical Care Practitioner

Contract Type: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP).

We are looking for a motivated and committed ACCP to join our well-established team primarily based in the Neurosciences intensive care unit.  We currently have 16 ACCPS who deliver 24/7 care spread across 3 intensive care units (General, Cardiac and Neuro).  The post is open to ACCPs who have successfully completed the MSc (or equivalent) in Advanced Practice (ACCP) and hold membership in the College in Intensive Care.  Applicants must be credentialed and eligible to practice within the scope of practice for an ACCP.

This should be supported with a portfolio demonstrating ongoing evidence across the 4 pillars of advanced practice.  You will work alongside the multidisciplinary team on the Neurosciences intensive care where we are committed to career progression with opportunities to develop and learn additional skills. 

The role is a minimum of 80% clinical which is set out during regular job planning reviews to support additional non-clinical activities such as service improvement, research, education and leadership opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In this role, your key responsibilities will include;

a) The Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) will perform at an advanced level under the core capabilities across the four pillars of Advanced Practice (Health Education England Multi-Professional Framework 2017):

• Clinical Practice

• Leadership and Management 

• Research

• Education 

b)  To deliver an advanced level of practice within a specialist field, acting as a role model

c)   The ACP will practice both independently and in partnership with the multidisciplinary team under the clinical supervision delegated by a consultant and/or Specialist Registrar and under the guidance of the Lead ACP 

d)   The post holder will use collaborative and independent judgement to assess, investigate, diagnose, plan, implement, manage, and evaluate the clinical care and management of the patients

e)   Responsible for the providing clinical leadership, supervision, and structured teaching for the multidisciplinary team to facilitate ongoing training and education.
