This is an exciting opportunity to join our Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) team, supporting the delivery of our elective nurse-led DC cardioversion service.

The successful candidate will be supported through a structured period of training and development to gain the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deliver this service.

This will include ECG interpretation, pre-procedure patient assessment, DC cardioversion, clinical decision-making and discharge planning.

The nurse-led DC cardioversion service provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical assessment and decision-making skills and to work within an expanded scope of practice within cardiac rhythm management.

As this is a fixed-term role, applicants will need to have already completed a recognised physical assessment course and have the underpinning clinical assessment skills required to progress within the role. Previous experience of performing DC cardioversion is not essential, as training, supervision and competency assessment will be provided.

You will work closely alongside the Cardiac Rhythm Management Advanced Practitioner team, providing valuable insight into the advanced practitioner role and the assessment and management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias. You will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively within the wider multidisciplinary team.

Training will be provided in other aspects of the role, including patient education and support, enabling you to further develop your knowledge of arrhythmia management and support patients throughout their treatment pathway.

This post would be particularly suited to a nurse with an interest in cardiology and cardiac rhythm management who is motivated to develop their specialist knowledge, clinical decision-making and procedural skills.

They will undertake further training and competency assessment to develop the specialist knowledge and skills required to independently support the DC cardioversion pathway. Key responsibilities will include:

Undertaking comprehensive pre-procedure clinical assessment, including physical assessment and review of relevant investigations.

Developing advanced skills in ECG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition.

Assessing patients' suitability to proceed with elective DC cardioversion and developing clinical decision-making skills within an expanded scope of practice.

Undertaking DC cardioversion, following successful completion of the required training and competency framework.

Monitoring and assessing patients before, during and following their procedure.

Providing appropriate patient education, information and support throughout the cardioversion pathway.

Undertaking post-procedure assessment and safe discharge planning, including appropriate escalation where further medical or specialist review is required.

Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and supporting the delivery of a safe, efficient and high-quality service.

Once competent in the role will support doctors in developing their knowledge and practical skills in DC cardioversion.
